Sandy’s book, a journal of sorts, explores various aspects of
loss she has personally and unfortunately met with in her life.
Rather than merely a traditional chronological recording, this
work is her perusal of various life topics and how losses and
recovery now deeply impacts her views. Life is filled with loss
and loss brings grief. There are few that learn the value and
ability of navigating through the sea of grief. Sandy has not
only navigated well herself, but here, in an attempt to equip
others, shares her experience in poignant and transparent ways.
We have been honored to know Sandy during some of these life
events. We can only encourage the reader in that Sandy has
relied on God and has come through these potentially
debilitating circumstances a stronger and softer woman, peer,
colleague, mother and friend. And Anthony, her son, stands as a
fine young man, and yet all agree he is a picture of the quiet
strength of his mother.
Sandy Souza’s memory walk through her life may awaken long-lost
childhood events and may even further lead one to analyze
issues, which now shape one’s adult life. This may be Sandy’s
greatest gift to you!

When I was first introduced to the idea of my Mom wanting to
write a book about loss, I was nine years old. Now I’m
twenty-one, and I realize more and more the importance of this;
not just for the people who will be reading this book, but for
my Mom to truly express herself.
You might be asking yourself why it took a little more than
twelve years to write this book. Well, not only did some
personal events need to occur in my Mom’s life, but also some
events throughout the world as well.
For me, personally, this is just another example of how God
works in our lives. We need to not think of things in relation
to our time tables but be humble enough to realize that our
lives unfold according to God’s plans.
I truly believe everything has a purpose in life. For me, this
book opened both my eyes and my heart to understand my Mother.
Even though while I was reading this book, there were a few
sections I found difficult to read. What helped me keep turning
the pages was the realization of the purpose of this book. Not
just to tell my Mom’s life events; but how, with God, faith, and
time, some of the most unimaginable circumstances can be
overcome.

On Sandy’s journey of embracing loss, she has repeatedly allowed
God to use the losses in her life—from the death of her mother
and grandmother at a young age to numerous losses with
marriages, money and more. Through her embracing all of these
losses, Sandy has become a woman of integrity, inspiration and
insight, as she continually looks to God for hope, faith and
healing. She is not the same woman today as yesterday or years
ago. Sandy presents her account in a humorous yet meaningful and
practical way. The lessons she presents express what she has
learned in such a way that one can relate to and truly consider
to embrace loss and experience hope in their own life.

What a Message of HOPE from a Great Woman of Faith! This book is
not only enlightening, but tremendously uplifting. Sandy’s
tenacious spirit that refuses to give Up, will motivate everyone
to remember “Giving up is NEVER an Option for you, But Going UP
is!” I highly recommend this book to all, for it will teach you
how to Embrace Loss and not become depressed or bitter by it,
but better! Thank you Sandy for choosing to Live Life more
abundantly and not more burdenly.

From the prospective of 50 years in ministry and hundreds and
hundreds of sessions with those having difficulty in dealing
with loss and rejection I find the book written by our dear
friend Sandy one of the better tools we can place in the hands
of people. So very often there is a need for reassurance again
and again and there are so many practical experiences and
lessons in her book that relate so well to that. We recommend
the book for both sexes as we are finding about as many males as
females having to deal with these issues in life. One quick
glance at our friend Sandy will reveal to you that she has lived
through the experiences and has come out a whole and wholesome
person.
